It was witnessed for the first time in American history that a day was dedicated to a spiritual leader from India.
In a unique decision by the State Senate of New York, April 29, 2011 was declared as Brahmrishi Shree Kumar Swami ji Day. Senator Jack M. Martins announced this decision along with a written Proclamation. He handed over this Proclamation to Brahmrishi Shree Kumar Swami ji during a special felicitation ceremony. Honoring Brahmrishi Shree Kumar Swami ji the Senator said, “His Holiness Brahmrishi Shree Kumar Swami ji is working towards bringing a peaceful world free from violence, hatred and strife.

Honoring Brahmrishi Shree Kumar Swamiji the Senator said, "His Holiness Brahmrishi Shree Kumar Swamiji is working towards bringing a peaceful world free from violence, hatred and strife. He is clearly deserving of such recognition for his powerful message and extensive humanitarian work on behalf of those most in need."
History was made in the New York State Senate on May 2, 2011, when His Holiness Brahmrishi Shree Kumar Swamiji, the renowned spiritual leader of the world, delivered the invocation at the opening session of the Senate and was honored with a resolution recognizing him as one of the most scholarly figures of world religions, dedicated to the welfare of people of all faiths with an outstanding and inspiring record of community service.
The pin drop silence of the Senate was broken upon the conclusion of their remarks, when sixty Senators gave Gurudev a thunderous applause and a standing ovation.
Subsequently, a large number of senators lined up to meet the Swami individually. The Senate unanimously passed a resolution honoring His Holiness addressing the senators in Hindi with his invocation and his remarks translated to English by Riti Bhalla - the Brahmrishi pressed his gratitude for the honor and said, "esteemed Senators of New York, you have shown enormous graciousness by inviting me to this Senate chamber. Millions of people around the world salute you and express their gratitude for the great love and affection you have all shown towards me."
The spiritual leader with 310 million followers around the world prayed in the New Senate chamber,
"Oh God, please guard and guide all members of the senate and the State of New York. Instill in them the wisdom, the courage and the right spirit so the political activity in this esteemed senate can be a powerful instrument for human transformation and contribute to the physical and spiritual well-being of the citizens of this great state and this great them the country.
Senator Dean Skelos and Senator Jack Martins welcomed His Holiness Brahmrishi Kumar Swami to the capital with garlands. others leader in Albany were nassau county Executive Ed Mangano, Senator Charles Fuschillo, Senator Kemp Hannon and Assemblyman Michael
His holiness was also given a guided tour of the Governor's office and the state capital.
To the thunderous applause of the audience, one by one, all dignitaries welcomed Brahmrishi Shree Kumar
Swami Ji with garlands and commended his humanitarian services and spiritual leadership. In turn, Swami Ji garlanded the dignitaries, creating colorful splendor on the dais. Honor citations and proclamations were issued on behalf of the governments of Nassau County, New York State, the United States Senate as well as the US House of Representatives.
